A long time ago I loved writing about my career as an ICU nurse. By that, I mean before COVID. I still love my career, but I can’t consume every waking moment to being “Nurse Ashley”. She is always “on”, she is “so sweet” and “so thoughtful”. She fights for herself and she fights for her patients. This is the Ashley that had a nurse blog before it was cool to have a nurse blog. An “OG” if you will. This version of Ashley ended in 2020 when COVID began.
COVID had me longing for safety. Safety within myself, my family, and my home. I was constantly doing projects because:
- our new home was built in the 80’s
- it passed the time because what the fuck else would we be doing during quarantine
- it made me feel like I was creating a safe space. A form of nesting I suppose; minus the baby.
This lead me to @foutsfarmhouse and @Foutshome. I was renovating my forever home in Marietta, Georgia. I was sharing photos of the renovation, sharing links to products, links to home décor, and posting DIY content.
But you know me; You know I am not JUST my job. I am not JUST my home. I’m turning 35 this year, and sometimes I still don’t know what I am.
Who do I identify as? (Besides the she/her part on the application).
Am I a content creator? Interior design consultant? Home décor boutique? Ghost writer? Voice over professional? Crazy ICU nurse? I have so many passions and hobbies. One could argue TOO many.
Whatever I am, come watch me do it in a whirlwind of organized chaos.
